Focus at VACVAC
80% of the people working in global garment production are, quite thoughtfully, women between the ages of 18 and 35. Many of them have children of their own, but very few have access to the essentials. For us, responsible business is therefore fundamentally about solidarity. Equipping our children should not be at the expense of others.
At VACVAC studio, we work on many aspects of social and environmental responsibility - in close collaboration with our skilled suppliers - but we also see our retailers and customers as an essential part of our value chain. The fact is that we each have a huge impact, and as a brand we know that we have a great responsibility to educate and raise awareness about the impact of our clothes.
"We all need to take responsibility for making the best decisions - manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and consumers alike. VACVAC studio is taking the first steps and working towards proper and conscientious production. The next step is to get the consumer on board." - Signe, owner of VACVAC studio.
We refuse to compromise on the safety, wages and rights of factory workers. However, the prerequisite for this is documentation, goodwill and decency from all parties, which is why our suppliers are all selected based on their transparency and social and environmental certifications and initiatives. It is crucial to us that their values are aligned with ours, and that there is mutual trust so that we can solve any challenges together.
For example, like us, our suppliers are GOTS certified, which means that they have agreed to comply with, and be audited according to, best practice for social and environmental responsibility. You can read more about the GOTS certification here.
"We work incredibly closely with the people who sew our/your clothes. Therefore, it has also become a personal struggle for me to ensure that they get recognition, respect and a decent salary. Of course they should - they are doing a laborious job!" - Signe, owner of VACVAC studio.
Our materials fall into two categories - certified organic fibers and organic fibers. What they have in common, however, is that we place high demands on how they perform in use. A good example of the first is our basic rib, which consists of GOTS-certified, organic materials, while parts of our interior are not possible to get a certification on, as filling, primarily cotton wool, cannot be GOTS certified, but is produced and developed together with and at the same supplier as the GOTS certified products, therefore we can guarantee good and thorough CSR that lives up to GOTS 7.0.
We always try to minimize waste where we can. The GOTS-certified materials ensure that everything from organic cultivation and chemicals used to wastewater treatment and social responsibility - all the way from the field to VACVAC.
VACVAC believes that good quality is the right choice. We produce thoroughly tested and long-lasting basic products. Find us in the GOTS database right here
